Dr. Jane Reside

Welcome

Dr. Jane Reside is a naturopathic physician in Victoria, BC, and has been in private practice here since 2001.  Jane’s practice is largely dedicated to prenatal care and children’s health, using naturopathic approaches to enhance fertility (for both men and women), optimize a healthy pregnancy, and ensure the best possible beginning for every child.  She is also an experienced practitioner in the treatment of postpartum depression, women’s reproductive issues, children’s neurological and behavioural disorders including ADD/ADHD and Autism, and the common childhood health concerns of asthma, allergies, eczema, sleep problems, and infections, to name a few.

In general practice, Jane sees a wide variety of individuals of all ages, with many different health issues.  As a naturopath, Dr. Reside is trained much in the same way as a GP to be able to deal with a range of health concerns, including digestive problems & disorders, anxiety, depression, the effects of chronic stress, sleep issues, thyroid & adrenal imbalances, blood sugar abnormalities (including Gestational Diabetes), and chronic infections.

Increasingly, Jane’s practice also involves simple dietary counseling; one doesn’t need to be ‘sick’ to see a naturopath and Jane is happy to use her expertise to help guide people to their best health in the choices they make, and in weeding out the overwhelming amount of health-related information we are faced with on a daily basis.

Dr. Reside holds a degree in Biochemistry & Microbiology from the University of Victoria, as well as a 4-year diploma in Naturopathic Medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto where she graduated in 2000.  Jane also recently completed the required course work to obtain her certification for Prescribing Authority in the province of British Columbia.  This was on the heels of a landmark bill passed in 2009 to allow ND’s to work within their full scope of practice and have the ability to prescribe certain pharmaceuticals as well as high-dose natural therapies.  With the grounding in basic healing principles, ND’s will continue to focus on prevention and optimal health, but now have the option of the judicial and thoughtful use of proven medications when necessary.  For more information on this, please visit the association website at www.bcna.ca.

Jane is currently on a sabbatical for the month of January, 2012, due to health problems in her family.  She will be relocating her practice during this time; please visit the Contact page for updates on this.

Thank you for your patience in this regard.
